• Database Tier

Database Tier는 Oracle Application에 의해 관리되는 모든 데이터를 저장하는 Oracle Database server를 포함한다. 

보다 엄밀히 말하면, database tier는 Oracle data server file과 system에 database object를 물리적으로 저장하는 Oracle Application database를 포함한다.

Database server는 desktop client와 직접적으로 communication하지 않고, application tier에서 중재한다.

• Applications File System

R12 system은 많은 Oracle 제품을 구성요소로 사용하고 있다. 이러한 제품 파일은 Database, Application server machine에 몇 개의 top-level 디렉토리안에 저장된다.

Application file은 client에 설치되지 않으며, 단지 필요에 따라 JAR file과 그 외 필요한 파일들만이 Client에 다운로드 된다.

Application을 설치할 때에 어떻게 선택하는가에 따라 디렉토리는 single machine또는 multiple machine에 위치한다. 

OS의 environment setting은 database와 application server machine의 파일 시스템 내에 있는 다양한 디렉토리 위치를 포함한다.

db/apps_st/data (DATA_TOP) - database node 에 있고, system tablespaces, redo log files, data tablespaces, index, tablespaces, and database files 등을 포함한다.

db/tech_st/11.2.0 - database node machine 에 있고, Oracle11g database 을 위한 ORACLE_HOME 이다.

apps/apps_st/appl (APPL_TOP) - product directories 와 Oracle Applications을 위한 파일을 포함한다.

apps/apps_st/comn or (COMMON_TOP or COMN_TOP) –제품에 사용되는 file과 directory를 포함한다.

apps/tech_st/10.1.2 - Applications technology stack tools components 를 위한 ORACLE_HOME 이다.

apps/tech_st/10.1.3 - Applications technology stack Java components 를 위한 ORACLE_HOME 이다.
